Local Inspiration

The cafe and restaurant takes it's name from the statues atop of the Liver Building, on Liverpool's dockside.

The two mythical creatures are nicknamed Bertie and Bella. According to popular legend, Bertie looks inland protecting the families and Bella looks out to sea protecting sailors. The birds are based on the cormorant seabird, and sketches were integrated into the interior design and the branding.

Design and Curation

A range of accessories were selected, and arranged, including bespoke posters inspired by the three buildings on Liverpool's historic dockside, known as the Three Graces. Second hand books were selected on a maritime theme to provide an authentic experience. Artificial planting provided soft edges to the interior, and contributed to the cosy ambience the client wanted.
